How does it work?

Image
Today we added a popup with basic instructions. It only shows once if you click "Got It". Then it becomes accessible from the '?" menu entry

Kneeboard.ga

Image
We are now available at https://kneeboard.ga  . Same app, same data, new address.

Google Sign In for custom feedback

Image
Today we added the (optional) ability to authenticate with Google to enable custom data. At the moment, the only additional feature is the ability to check the "Follow up" box while submitting feedback. Our intention is to allow server side data storage, which means your settings will be available across devices.

Next Level : User Accounts and Board sharing

We're excited to be building a useful kneeboard app with your support! As you know, our app currently lets you customize your tiles layout to best fit your flights. However, we are reaching the limits of what can be done in the browser as non authenticated users. We are considering some features such as: Sharing: Imagine sending your kneeboard with a fellow pilot. Cloud Storage: Save your personalized boards to the server, so you can access them from any device (data is stored in the browser today). Voting:  Browse existing boards, get inspired and up vote the most useful configurations. To unlock these features and take your experience further, we're exploring the possibility of user accounts. This would allow us to: Identify Users: No more anonymity! User accounts would let you interact with the app and the community in a more meaningful way. Store Data Securely: We can securely store your custom boards and preferences on our servers, accessible from any device you log ...

FAA data refresh May 16th and speed boost

Image
FAA has refreshed their data as of 5/16 which may have side effects such as a selected runway doesn't exist anymore (ex: S50 runway 16-34 renamed to 17-35). The symptom in the app is an empty Airport tile. Just edit the un way and pick the new one to fix the situation. Further, you should also notice an initial load speed boost thanks to a backend improvement

Print Mode - Fuel Bug (v518)

Image
Print mode is now available from the menu. Click the printer and see the back page is now flipped. This is useful if you want the read the back page while keeping the front page clipped in the board. Fuel Bug is now configurable to match your aircraft.  The tile layout itself has changed slightly with watermarked boxes Finally, 3 letters airports are now using a bigger watermarked code

Default Runway Selection (v517)

Image
Airport Tile now selects the first runway by default, which allows you to click "Apply" right away

Fuel Bug initial revision (v516)

Image
Here is a first attempt at the fuel bug tile. Settings are currently hard coded to match a Cessna 172S but they will be configurable soon. The tile should be used in flight as follows 1) Check fuel level 2) draw an horizontal tick on the gauge and connect it to a box on either side where you mark either time or location

Minor improvements, bug fixes (v514)

Image
A display bug has been fixed that was impacting Firefox users. The airport edit mode should now look clean Radio flow edit mode has been improved for legibility Menu has been redesigned with a yellow warnings button and a new link to the blog

Student Pilots Community

Image
Posted today in facebook Student Pilots group :  For my XC flights I use iPad+FF but I love paper backup on my kneeboard. I was looking for a solution to configure something I could print and slap on the kneeboard and couldn't really find anything flexible enough so I created this : https://kb.jollant.net This is my humble contribution to the Student Pilot community. Please let me know if you have feedback. I'd love to improve it.

Runway List scrolling and Orientation selection (v513)

Image
Today we fixed a selection bug on Airport Edit which was allowing for no selection on runway orientation. Further, we are now showing a scrollbar in the runway list, which allows for long lists (think DFW) The list should be further improved but at least for now the look is clean Check it out

Airport Edit

Image
Airport edit mode has been improved with temporary airport name https://kb.jollant.net

Military Frequencies (PDX)

Image
Today we fixed a bug reported via Feedback (Thanks!) : Some airports like PDX were showing values above 225 (military range) instead of their non military counterpart This bug was impacting KPDX, KCYS, KCHS and KJFK

ATIS compact mode and Runway Orientation (v511)

Image
Today we added the compact mode for ATIS. If you click the ATIS tile header, you will be able to select the "compact" mode, which will display 4 lines of weather information Further, you should now be able to choose how the runway is displayed in the Airport tile. Vertical, is the normal mode but you can pick "magnetic" which gives this output  Version 511

Feedback

Image
You can now send feedback through Menu > Feedback popup

Clear mode bug

Image
Today we fixed the "clear mode" bug where buttons would have a white background (an would not be legible) if your browser was set to light mode. Tile selection should look like this for all browser settings

Gravel and Dirt

Gravel and Dirt strips now have their own color

Nothing in corners

Image
You can now chose "nothing" from the corner selector. This is useful to declutter the tile
